Hot, really hot… Thats probably the best way to describe Australia. When I arrived coach told me that the weather has been pretty poor, and it has been cold. Next morning everyone turned up for the ride with arm warmers, overshoes etc etc… it was 20odd degrees. Anyway, as per usual i burned because i refused to use suncream, that was stupid, so now am factor 30ing it up everyday, still getting some good tan.
so far so good with the squad too, athletes are all happy and working hard, christmas time is allowing them all some downtime, but from tuesday we’ll be back to normal.
had my first paddle in 4 years today, in a surfski, it was nice to be out on the water while they where getting their open water work done.
right, animals. Lots of them, its like a zoo here, some highlights: A kakatoe, big old birds here, noisy too. Lizards, scared the living shit out of me… And not joking it was the size of a small dog… Green, huge tail, didnt manage to get a pic though. Black swans, when i arrived, i said it felt like i was upside down, which in my head makes sense, summer for winter, black vs white swans and a clock which was the wrong way round.. Didnt got down well when i mentioned that to the people here.
*last minute update* nearly crashed into a kangaroo during descent of Stromlo Mountain today… Jumped out from opposite side of the road and scrapped its tail with my frontwheel, rear wheel locked up but managed to stay upright. Forget coffee, crashing into a kangaroo will sort out your jetlag…
I’ve attached a few pics, in no particular order…
Hope everyone had a fantastic christmas and is going to have an even better new year!
Byebye now
